Fairlawn Real Estate is a dynamic real estate firm that specializes in acquiring, renovating, developing and managing real estate projects in Central Illinois. The Leasing Specialist position offers an exciting opportunity to join a growth-oriented organization with a genuinely enjoyable work environment.

Based in Champaign, Illinois, the Fairlawn team member will work with the local leasing team covering property types ranging from single family homes to residential communities. The ideal Leasing Specialist candidate will be a detail-oriented and process-driven individual who is capable in assisting in all aspects of leasing and property management.

Leasing Specialist Responsibilities:

  • Assist in daily operations including: answering calls, scheduling appointments, greeting visitors, showing properties to prospective residents and any necessary paperwork, filing, etc
  • Become knowledgeable on our properties versus competition and effectively communicate features to prospective residents
  • Apply established sales and marketing strategies to increase property traffic, maintain closing ratios and exceed meet or exceed budgeted occupancy
  • Prepare move-in paperwork, confirm residences are move-in ready and perform move-in orientations with new residents
  • Maintain good rapport with current and prospective residents
  • Process maintenance requests and follow up with residents to confirm completion
  • Ensure resident files are properly maintained
  • Assist Leasing Manager with renewals process
  • Learn and ensure compliance with all Fair Housing Laws

Leasing Specialist Skills and Knowledge Requirements:

  • Previous customer service experience preferred
  • Comfort using a variety of computer applications required (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite)
  • Experience with property management software preferred (e.g. Buildium, Yardi, Propertyware)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Superior attention to detail, high energy and positive attitude
  • Ability to work independently and also to work closely with other team members
  • Ethical and professional conduct and integrity beyond reproach

Leasing Specialist Education Requirements:

  • High School diploma or GED

Leasing Specialist Additional Requirements:

  • Valid driver’s license and dependable vehicle. Limited in-town usage of personal vehicle for errands and property visits required, any out-of-County personal mileage reimbursed at the Federal rate
  • Availability to work Saturdays and Sundays
  • Availability to work overtime if needed during turnover from late July through mid-August
  • Must be able to perform the physical functions of the position, not limited to: ability to walk properties, complete physical inspections, deliver resident communications and show properties
